Stealth Mode!
Welcome to Design For Existence. We're all about web-based applications & the technology that drives them. For the past couple months we have been working on a new product dubbed "Dispatch". Currently we're working in semi-stealth mode, so we'll be a bit hazy on the details. We should have more information on this exciting new product, and other projects we are working on in the very near future.

The State Libertarian Website for Oregon.
The Libertarian Party of Oregon (LPO) is currently a simple, XHTML site, including integration with meetup.com; which allows the party to maintain events on meetup, and have them displayed automatically within their site. This site also includes a CMS backend which allows the parties maintainers to modify content on the site & add news in a simple, rich text content management system.
We are currently working on more backend functionality for the party, as well as credit card transaction processing, and community organizing functionality.
We also host the site, along with email, and mailing list functionality.

Loud Is Relative is a simple system for aggregating news via their RSS feeds. Instead of the application connecting to each RSS feed every time a user requests the page, the system utilizes memcache, a memory based caching system to act as a proxy between the MySQL database which stores 5 days of articles from each RSS feed.
The system also keeps track of click thrus, which is used to change the font size of each article depending on its relative popularity to other articles. The front end was written using the prototype JavaScript library, which allows the application to asynchronously update displayed stories without refreshing the entire page.
